So, weβre in day 10 of Elvenar Woodelves chapter (see previous day at Elvenar Woodelves β Day 09). As expected, we didn’t get a lot of KPs today from the tournament. But our research still jumped ahead quite a bit! So what happened? Did we get help from mysterious sources? Sounds like some magic was involved…
City changes
Nothing overly exciting has happened today with the city. I shuffled workshops again, in preparation of the final 2 workshop upgrades (I expect one tomorrow). Both of my T3 manufactories finished their upgrades, and will stay at L18 and L17 until I get more pop.
After thinking about what should my next Ancient Wonder upgrade be, I decided to go Blooming Trader Guild for now. Originally, I was thinking ramping up Needles of the Tempest until L11 for extra troop production. However, L25 barracks are superfast for now, and training size will be a constraint. I could have gone improving training size by upgrading Shrine of Shrewdy Shrooms, but I won’t really see any impact right now. Martial Monastery is expensive now for the benefit it provides. Both Golden Abyss and Mountain Halls would give me more pop, but the increase is marginal and right now I am much better off simply upgrading residences.
So I figured I’d go with BTG till level 6. It’s relatively cheap, and at L6 would provide extra 12% to all guest race settlement productions. Think about it this way – if you’re producing for 20 days, BTG L6 would shave almost 2 days from the total production time. Plus, you can’t go wrong with the huge bee in your city π
Elvenar Woodelves progress
Whoa! Careful reader would see that we moved quite a bit forward today. Steel manufactory upgrade tech is done, squad size upgrade 29 is done, and a good chunk of the Main Hall upgrade is filled in. This is unexpected. Todays was supposed to be a slow day from the research perspective (4* tournament stage doesn’t produce a lot of KP). So what happened here?
Today I’ve got one of these events that you don’t include in your plan. Usually, that’s an oversight that sets you back. In this case, it was the opposite – I’ve got a whole bunch of KPs from a very infrequent source. So what is it?
It’s the Mystical Object in the Magic Academy! Every crafting produces Vision Vapor, and when you hit 100 VV you get random rewards. One of them was 35KP, and that’s what I’ve got! Was probably the least interesting one this time (500 diamonds would be much better), but oh well.
So there you have it, today we’ve got an unexpected progress boost from the mystical sources! π
Steel Tournament – 4* day
Tournament is still going pretty well. In fact, out 4* round losses are pretty much the same as recovery right before it. So basically, we left 4* round with the same amount of troops as we left 3*!
But all good things come to an end. Or at least slow down a bit π As fights are getting progressively more difficult, cracks start to show up. I never fight encounters with 3+ counter units (light melee in this case) as you’re either going to straight lose it, or losses would be very high. But in higher rounds enemies have advantage in numbers, so you start losing some fights. I’ve lost a couple of fights here with 2 counter units. Not a big deal right now, but it will become worse in 5* and 6* rounds.
This is nothing that barrack upgrades would help with, as barracks only help to replenish your losses faster. What I need in this case is troop quality improvements. That is, troops need increased damage and improved health. You can use temporary buildings for that, but more permanent solution is upgrading combat AWs. Martial Monastery increases health for all units, and Needles of the Tempest increases damage for light range.
Well, when I get unlimited KPs I will upgrade all these to the max. Until then, I have to balance it with other priorities. In any case, this tournament is going really well so far!
Next day results won’t be consistent though. I just had to unlock squad size upgrade right after 4* stage, and subsequent numbers would refer to new – increased – squad sizes. So number of squads would be lower because of that.
