So, weβre in day 2 of Elvenar Woodelves chapter (see previous day at Elvenar Woodelves β Day 01). A huge day todayI Completed massive rebuild to transitional layout, ripped out a large chunk of old Orc settlement, unlocked and built first Weeping Willow, and completed 2 rounds of marble tournament. Not bad for a day’s play! π
City changes
As you may have noticed, today’s layout looks nothing like the one from yesterday. This is because I have finally implemented transitional layout – didn’t have time to do that on day 1. I pretty much executed the plan that I outlined in the Elvenar Woodelves Planning post – take a look at the discussion there.
You may also noticed that I haven’t stopped at that implementation. Subsequently, I also did the following:
- Added two more buildings to the Winter Market set (as discussed for a while), so this should help with T3 goods production, and eventually with mana
- Built my first Weeping Willow! So mana production is on.
- My builders are working on 3 more Willows
- As Willows are expensive (910K coins / 134K supplies), I managed to sell quite a few Orcs buildings without going over the cap
- I have built Shrine of Shrewdy Shrooms! This would be helpful in overnight troop builds. My barracks queue almost doubled, from 2:30 to 4:40. That’s huge!
In all likelihood, I will be building Willows non-stop until I get at least 9 of them. This should get me 40K of mana daily, before decay. Considering even basic research such as residences upgrade requires mana, it doesn’t seem that it makes sense to prioritize anything else at the moment. We’ll see.
Elvenar Woodelves progress
As anticipated, I’ve got a lot of KPs from tournament rounds today. With that, I managed to activate Weeping Willows and Greetings tech. As I discuss in the planning post, now I needed to pick the next research: residences, workshops or barracks. After thinking about it, I decided to go for the residences upgrade first, even though it has the highest mana cost (50K).
Bottom line is, both barracks and workshops require a lot of pop to upgrade, and temporary residences only get you so far. I am all in on building Willows, so we’ll see if I have enough mana in time. But even if not, then I can go back to piling on KPs into barracks and workshop upgrades.
So the current plan is to put KPs into residences first, then barracks, then workshops. I might not be able to activate them in the same order though, due to mana requirements. That’s fine.
Marble Tournament – 2* and 3* day
Today is a second days of the tournament, and double day at that for me (early morning / late night).Β As I mentioned in day 1 post, I went for all 20x 2* provinces to grab these KPs early and accelerate basic research. I have recovered to about 40 squads before 2* round, and was pretty much empty after it was done. This means that I had enough troops for 20x provinces in 1* and 2* rounds (outside of disadvantaged setups with 3+ counter units that I catered). This is an excellent result!
Now every next round has to be fought only with troops that can be produced within 16 hours window. The good news is, I only need to go 12x provinces in 3* to 5* rounds, and only 9x in 6* round.
I have recovered to about 20 squads for 3* round, and that was sufficient to avoid excessive catering. Now with Shrine of Shrewdy Shrooms AW I may eliminate a few cases where barracks stayed idle.
Overall, this tournament is going pretty smoothly so far. That’s good, as I am still pretty low on goods, especially T2. If I can go though the rest of the tournament without too much catering, this might be just enough time to decently recover the inventory. Fingers crossed…
