Elvenar Sorcerers & Dragons – Day 27 [78%]

So, we’re in day 27 of Elvenar Sorcerers & Dragons chapter (see previous day at Elvenar Sorcerers & Dragons – Day 26). Things are calming down a little bit after the last few hectic days. Now the focus is on adjusting production to efficiently using portal profits. And we’re also doing some serious prep for the next marble tournament. We’re doing something different this time around 😉 Let’s find out what it is…

City changes

We continue to make some changes in the city. Today, we have unlocked and placed another research Expansion. And I immediately relocated the last Weeping Willow from the city center right there. It fit neatly in. And so what did we put in its place? Another Ancient Wonder!

That’s right, I have just build a Flying Academy. It was part of the original plan for the chapter, but I intended to place it pretty much after everything else is done. There was no pressing need for it. Well, things have changed.

On the heels of a relative success of using specialized unit – Banshee – in the last tournament, I am going with another mage specialist for the marble tournament. This time, it is Blossom Mage. And for that, I will need Mercenary Camp. So what do you know – Flying Academy provides boost to Mercenary Camp production speed. And non-trivial at that – L1 already provides 15% speedup. I can definitely use that!

Apart from the Flying Academy that came in as a high priority, I continue upgrading scroll manufactories. Both are now at L22, and only need one more level each. I think I even have enough pop for that already. Then we can get back to scrolls production, as this has been on pause during upgrades.

Elvenar Sorcerers & Dragons progress

Today we have activated City Expansion 40. I have deployed another 30% worth of portal profits even though I still had some time. I know that I will have to use more PPs than that, so it won’t be a waste. With that, we have all 3 techs that are needed for the Ancient Wonders of the Sorcerers and Dragons open. And we’ll need all 3 before we will be able to move to that one. So now this is how research looks like:

You can also see that I switched from filling in “Needed Things…” to filling in Lore Street. Just as I discussed yesterday, in this final stage where production supplements Portal Profits, it is important to make sure not to waste PPs even when tech requirements are imbalanced. So at this point in time, I had slightly more Arcane Alchemists – and Lore Street is a tech that requires more of those.

So now we’ll try to adjust our inventory levels appropriately for the Lore Street, and after it is activated we can go back to the “Needed Things…”, or even switch to “A Maze…” if inventories then would be more aligned with that. We will see.

In other news, we keep reducing our production shortfalls. Now we’re only 6 days late, and overall PPs to finish dropped to 250%. We should slow down a bit now as we’re entering slow KP period between tournaments.

Marble Tournament – recovery and preparation

Recovery mode is on from the tournament perspective. Next is a marble tournament, and again our primary units will be mages. However, given relative success of a specialist Banshee unit in the last tournament – and correspondingly atrocious performance of the Bud Sorceress – we are going to go with another mage specialist. It is finally time for Blossom Mages!

Just like with Banshee, we have just activated Blossom Mage promotion to L2 earlier in this chapter. And after Mercenary Camp upgrade in the last chapter production times were not terrible – about 30% slower than barracks units though. That’s where Flying Academy AW from the Woodelves chapter comes in play. It speeds up Mercenary Camp production, similar to what Needles of the Tempest does for barracks. We need that! So I have switched to Blossom Mage II production in the MC, and I am building L1 Flying Academy for +15% speedup. We’ll see if I can do more upgrades to this AW in time, but I will definitely be upgrading it for the next tournaments.

We definitely don’t expect as many squads as we would with Barracks. The questions is, would specialists be sufficiently better this time around? We will see…
