Elvenar Sorcerers & Dragons – Day 05 [20%]

So, we’re in day 5 of Elvenar Sorcerers & Dragons chapter (see previous day at Elvenar Sorcerers & Dragons – Day 04). We have completed out initial University build around L1 campus. But the real story of the day was hunting today’s daily event prize. We need Burning Pools! So did it go better than the last daily prize attempt? Let’s find out…

City changes

Alright, so my 2/3/3 setup for L1 Campus is complete – in terms of faculties variety. Not only we have built 3x Arcane Faculties (replacing 3x temporary Alchemy ones), we have upgraded them to L2 right away. Nice! Because each faculty upgrades require goods from two other faculties, we’ve had some stockpile of flasks and soulcatchers, so we instantly had sufficient resources for L2 upgrade for Arcanes. Which is good as we need to quickly ramp up production of arcane scrolls as we’re still empty there. And we’ll need this to upgrade other faculties and the Campus.

Also you may note that I removed some of the temporary L1 workshops, and replaced them with more L1 planks. Basically, I have almost finished workshop event quests – 15x 24 hour productions still remain, but that’s it. So we should be done with workshops by tomorrow. Still have tons of T1 requirements left. The good news is, with this number of L1 planks I am pretty much running all the goods required for the remaining quests already. Will need to wait for the longest one, which is 48 hours.

I think timing will work out great, as I can’t wait to get rid of the ghetto and continue reorganizing the city for the chapter. Luckily, we should be done with the event before the shantytown becomes an issue for city changes.

Elvenar Sorcerers & Dragons progress

Today we activated Arcane Faculty research, and almost finished Arcane Libraries tech. This is a bit of a problem as all subsequent research will require guest race goods. And I generally don’t produce these until I fully upgrade the settlement.

Which means I need to drop some Portal Profits here. The problem with that is my Campus still L1, and the lower the campus level, the lower the efficiency of portal profits. Ideally, you want to use portal profit with L4 portal, as you’re getting the best bang for the buck.

In this particular case the difference can be quite significant. If we need 100 of each good for the next 2 techs, this means 100% worth of PP with L1 campus, or less than 25% worth of PP with L3 campus. That’s huge. So I’ll try to upgrade campus ASAP, and in the meantime will try to sink KPs where possible, and delay further KPs for as long as I can. Fortunately, the tournament will be done tomorrow, and after that we should be in the low KP period for a few days. Ideally, we should last until L3 campus, but even L2 would be a big improvement over L1 as far as PP efficiency is concerned. Stay tuned!

Silk Tournament – 5* day

5* stage went roughly as expected. We’ve got higher losses than in 4* stage, but still nowhere as high as in 2* when we cleared 20 provinces instead of 12. Still, we massacred 41 squads, and we have no Treants left. But we managed to finish the whole stage fighting – didn’t do any unnecessary catering. The only reason for that though is that I had to delay the stage till the last possible moment (again, for a quest), accumulating extra troops.

That’s a pretty good result, all things considering. I don’t have much time left to build troops for 6* stage though. Can’t delay there as I am already bumping into tournament time constraints. The good news is that we’re only going to 9 provinces here, so we may in theory have enough troops to fully fight even that stage – we will see.

Event – Evolution of the Phoenix

Today is another day in our current 4 week long event – Evolution of the Phoenix. Again, won’t be repeating much what is written elsewhere, so check out these resources:

Also check out what I am planning to go for in the Woodelves – Day 28 post. So here are my stats so far:

Burning Pools!

So today was a big day from the event perspective – and not because of the quests. It was because I finally dumped quite a bit of the essence that I accumulated and went for today’s daily prize. It’s Burning Pool, which is an excellent mana producer. It is better than Arcane Library with smaller footprint – 7.2K/4×3 vs 4.8K/5×3. And I managed to get 10x of them!

That’s despite me switching to prioritizing feathers for Grand Prizes instead of actual daily prizes. This is due to a fact that with additional quests, now there is a very good chance to get enough Artifacts to evolve one Phoenix to L9, and potentially even to L10 if really lucky with extra essence. And I want to make sure that I get at least L9, as with that Fire Phoenix will start producing 5% Portal Profits every 48 hours. We’ll effectively get a Trading Outpost that is permanent! That is on top of all other awesome things.

Chest openings today looked much more in line with expectations. Not great by any means, but right on target. So this was a big improvement comparing with a pretty bad day 3. Think about this – we’ve spent only 50% more essence today, but got 150% more daily prizes. As I was keeping detailed stats on chest openings, I may write a separate post on the wonders of randomness 😉 Some results were all over the place – and quite far away from expected values.

I was getting so tilted opening chests. I was averaging ~1000 sky essence per grand prize for the first couple. By the time dust cleared (spent all the sky essence) I was at ~209 essence per daily prize. and christ almighty do I have a bunch of wishing wells to place if I ever get to the end game.

I assume you mean daily prize and not grand prize. You can’t possibly get ~1000 sky essence per grand prize – this is mathematically impossible. The absolute worst case for grand prizes would be hitting Sea Green chest every time, and getting none of the extra essence. This would make single feathers cost 36 essence, so in 720 essence you’re guaranteed to get a grand prize.

For daily prizes, yeah, you can spend arbitrary amount on essence
